The monkeys. The monkeys are the most mischievous animals found in India. Some places they live in the jungle, and then they come not in contact with people. Often they are curious, and so they sit along the roadside where the road goes through the jungle. They sit and stare at the cars that pass by. Some cities in India have many monkeys. They are annoying because they steal from people. They are particularly edible things like fruit and vegetables they steal. It's not fun for people who sell fruits and vegetables at the market when the apes go on a raid. Some places they feed the monkeys. It is a bad idea, because they expect that everyone should give them something to eat. They can be very insistent. I was stopped once by a great ape that began to rummage in my pockets. I did not have a stick with me, so I could keep it at bay. One of the Hindu gods called Hanuman. This god is a monkey. I visited a temple of the monkey god Hanuman, and around this temple, there were many monkeys. I filmed these monkeys, and the result you see here. |
