It is a problem to be sacred. The cow has to preserve its dignity. When you are a sacred animal you cannot fart. The goats and the monkeys are not sacred, and they can therefore fart as much as it pleases them. The cow will lose its dignity if it farts.
Does it not fart at all? I took pictures of many sacred cows as you can see, but I never heard them fart. For a long time this was a great mystery. A sheer coincidence revealed the solution to me.
We lived for some time in the mountains of northern India. There was a cow grazing on the lawn in front of the house we lived in. This cow was in fact our lawn mover. We also had a lady who did all the laundry for us. Laundry in India is done by hand. The lady put a tub of laundry right next to the lawn. Suddenly the cow went over and started drinking of the soapy water in the tub. It stopped drinking because soapy water does not taste good. Half an hour later something unexpected happened. Soap bubbles emerged from the other end of the cow. I was very lucky having my camera with me and I took a small film of this event. Press the button on the picture, and you will see this film.
This event solved the mystery. You could see the bubbles, but you could not hear anything. Cows are farthing like any other animal, but they do it silently. Doing so they can relieve themselves and still keep their dignity.
